What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

So, I am sewing several components of my son's, my husband's, and my Halloween costumes this year.

I forgot one thing, though.

I suck at sewing!

I also do not own a sewing machine. So that means I have to sew everything by hand. With my suckitudinous sewing skills.

Minor technicalities, right? Right?

How complicated are they? Maybe I could help. I can sew a bit. I'm not claiming any aptitude with clothes (especially without a sewing machine) but I do cross stitch on a regular basis, which means I have some practice with a needle. Just let me know! :)

i am just terribly impressed that you all wear costumes. and that you try to make them, even if you can't sew!

I think we have a sewing machine. I'd have to check where it is... But at our old house, we had a small table up against a wall for quite sometime. I THINK its a sewing machine/table. I don't know what kind of shape the sewing machine is in, but its all yours if you want it. You'd just have to come by and get it.

Seriously. You'd be doing me a favor if you took it. I don't sew and if it will help you out, then that's great!

Aw, Lisa, thanks! That is awesome! I will totally take you up on that should it turn out that they mysterious table is in fact a sewing machine. I would actually prefer to have an older-model sewing machine to start with. I like old things.

Can't I at least pay you like $10 for it or something, though?

P.S. I am 1/3 finished with my first big piece sewing by hand, and it looks all right actually. It's just taking a long time! But that's why I started in September, heh.

But more importantly, what are you going to be?

That iron-on sewing tape works wonders. I used it to put together my daughter's entire costume last year. Not good for long-term seams, but when will she ever wear a Goth Rocker costume again? (Okay, college maybe.)

you're a genius.

p.s. and you envy my embroidery? um, believe me when I say I can do NOTHING involving handiwork. looks like you've got one up on me.

p.p.s. yeah, what Ruth said. what're you gonna be?
