This Just In: Peace Termed Offensive, Divisive

Um, I don't even know what to say about this.

Is a ban on "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" next?

Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the new born King
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the new born King
To the new born King

Wait-- "Let There Be Peace on Earth"-- that one by Sy Miller? That's on a bunch of Christmas albums, and it's EVEN WORSE:

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me,
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father, brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother, in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now,
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow,
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be PEACE ON EARTH, and let it begin with me!

What about "Silent Night"-- doesn't that one have that word in it, too? "Sleep in heavenly--" GAH!

That's it-- THAT'S IT! We have to ban Christmas music altogether, people. We're at war, after all, and that means we can't have any mention of, well, of, that, that word that begins with the letter P, okay? Because it offends people. It divides people.

In fact, I heard from this that every time someone says that word out loud, Baby Jesus cries. For real.

Maybe we should just have it removed from the dictionary.

Let's replace it with the word penis (sorry .. the radio discussion still stuck in my head) and see if more or less people complain ...

While the US is a wonderful country for shopping and quick food delivery ... it is getting really weird on other issues :)

That is so stupid. I don't get people today.

Fear at its finest!

I love this post, Jaelithe. It points out how incredibly short-sided and egocentric people can be. And you know, those families with children in Iraq should want peace more than anyone else. I see it as being pro-peace is supporting the troops more than any pro-war agenda ever could.

Um, and I meant "shortsighted." Heh.

Good grief! People are complaining about a 'peace wreath'?!?!?

Excuse me while I go bang my head on the wall a couple of times.

Those people have way too much time on their hands. They are like the people that watch Disney movies looking for dirty subliminal messages.

Good grief, that's flipping ridiculous.

Reason #8,492 why I never want to live in a subdivision. Rules. Too many rules.

And the president of the homeowners association fired the board when they wouldn't do what he said. Nice. Power trip, anyone? Good grief. People are messed up, man.

I heard about this on Air America last night and my jaw dropped. For real. It hit the brake and I nearly killed a nun crossing the street. So see, doing away with peace is doing away with nuns. And who would want to kill a nun, really?

let's protest the protesters. how to protect those who protest "peace?" easy. Kick their butts. :) In a Christian way, of course.
